"There is always something to be thankful for." Preparations need to be done since last week. All of us had come up with a point where a farewell party should be done on the very last week. It was quite hard to get everyone involved in the preparations. Hence, I was one of the representative that helped to contact the other group leaders. I was glad that every group are willing to take part in the party. We had divide the tasks such as buying cups, plates, decorating the cafe, buying food and making drinks to each group. Our last week was started by assembling the children at the Cube, block A. Briefing for today’s event was given. Around 6.15 p.m., our group went to block B’s foyer. Afzarah, Izzaty, Yasmin and I helped each other in making the drinks for others. The drinks were also shared with other groups. We started eating the pizzas around 6.30 p.m. After finished eating, some of us cleaned the place by throwing away the trash and moping the floor. After that, we w...

Week 5: The journey goes on

"Live every moment like it's your last." There’s not much to prepare for this week as the activities are just basically doing assessment and playing games in ilearnace.com. Compared to the past few weeks, this week is basically more to doing assessments. Besides, next week is the last week for our program. Our session for this week was at the Cube. Nothing much was going on. We talked about how our weeks went on. Right after that, we started our lessons. I taught her on questions that she can’t answer and those questions that she got wrong. In addition, she still made a few careless mistakes when answering the questions. I hope that she will be more meticulous after this.

Week 4: Exploring features & Mind-mapping

"It's a long road, but it's worth it." For this week's activity, we are going to proceed teaching our foster sisters and brothers the other features that we didn't manage to teach them last week. We also need to teach them on how to create mind map besides monitoring their Progress chart. For this week, our session started at MS lab. I wished that they had told us sooner, so that I don't have to bring my laptop to the faculty. Our session started a little late as it took time for the children to come to the lab from block A. I started off by teaching Adani some stuffs that I forgot to teach her last week. I taught her how to make mind map on the ilearnace web page. She did some editing on her mind map entitled "Kata Nama Khas." For instance, she changed the background image, font color, text alignment and many more. Besides, she also learned how to customize her notes on the web page such as adding sticky notes, inserting videos, usin...

"You don't have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great." - Zig Zagler The first two weeks were not a bad start. However, an improvement is important in order for all of us to achieve better results. Last week was semester break for UM students, so there's no activity being held. For this week, we reminded our foster sisters and brothers to bring their parents' information such as their e-mail, full name and date of birth to create an account. We were being taught on the features available on the web page beforehand. Thus, it won't be a big problem for us to teach the kids later on. The above is the progress chart that can be obtained from Adani’s account. We started our activity for this week by creating a student account for our foster sisters and brothers. Steps on how to register the account were shown. After creating the account, I decided to give Adani a tour on the site such as showing the notes available, teaching her how to d...

Week 2: Googling Technique

"A mind that is stretched by a new experience can never go back to its old dimensions." - Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr. For this week activity, I had studied beforehand as we are going to teach our foster siblings on Advanced Searching Technique with Google. I want to give them the best learning experience. This week's activity has brought me to a whole new level as it is also something new for me. It's like killing two birds with one stone as I had also gain benefits from this activity. Before the class started, there was a problem in the labs booked. However, we were lucky because there's a screenshot about booking the Cube in block A. Hence, we decided to conjoint everyone in the Cube and use the projector as the teaching tool. Briefing were given to our foster sisters and brothers. As I had studied the materials given beforehand, I was asked to teach them. Here are some summary that I made based on the materials given : 3.1 * tesla coil - to sea...

Week 1: Meet and Greet!

Image
"A simple hello could lead to million things." During our first meeting, it was kind of normal to be shy and awkward, but as the time went by, I was glad that everyone became closer. A basic introduction was given by everyone in the CCNA lab. M&M chocolate is used the break the ice as we got to know their personal feelings through the color of chocolate they had. We played musical chair right after. Huda won the game! Even though my foster sister didn't win the game, I was happy to see their enthusiasms while playing the game. We also did the currently famous "panama dance" and played a few other games that were requested by our foster sisters and brothers. About my foster sister, Putri Izz' Adani binti Anuar, she is a standard six student from Sekolah Kebangsaan Satu Sultan Alam Shah. What I managed to get to know about her is that she is one of the triplets in her family. The other two of the triplets who were in other groups look alike while ...
